Shkodra's old town, by bike
Kolë Idromeno street, the bazaar and the Marubi photo archive — a slow half-day loop through the old centre, with somewhere to lock up at every stop.
The old centre is small enough to walk and just big enough that a bike makes it better. Everything below is within ten minutes of everything else.
Kolë Idromeno street
The pedestrian spine of the city, lined with restored Ottoman and Venetian facades. Ride to the end, lock up, and walk it properly.
The Marubi National Photo Archive
Three generations of photographers documented northern Albania from here, beginning in 1856. The earliest photograph taken in the country is on the wall.
The bazaar and the lead mosque
Behind the main street the lanes narrow. The Lead Mosque sits alone on the flood plain below the castle, best reached by bike since parking there is awkward.
Where to stop
Cafés on Idromeno take bikes at the door. For lunch, ride fifteen minutes to Shirokë and eat by the lake instead.
