Short, but the only ride here with a real climb. The castle sits on a rocky hill south-west of the city, above the point where the Buna, Drin and Kir rivers meet.
The approach road ramps up steeply for the last kilometre. On pedal assist it is comfortable in a low gear; without it, it is hard work. Lock the bike at the entrance — the last stretch to the walls is on foot.
Go for sunset if you can. The view from the ramparts takes in the lake, the rivers and the whole city.
